Specialist, Workersâ Compensation
Job Overview
The specialist, workersâ compensation, will act as a liaison between team members, departments, outside business partners, medical providers and defense attorneys.
This position will minimize the Companyâs exposure to workersâ compensation claims and effectively mitigate associated claims expenses.
Primary Responsibilities
·
Serve as liaison between company team members, third party administrator and nurse case management vendor; document and record necessary information to further claims handling.
·
Prepare, update and distribute leave reports for out of work and light duty leaves of absence weekly.
·
Ensure proper leave codes are assigned and updated on a timely basis.
·
Serve as intake for workersâ compensation documents including settlement orders, general releases, income deduction orders and subpoenas for workersâ compensation claim files; prepare settlement documents for scanning and send to imaging for inclusion in team membersâ personnel files.
·
Work with third party administratorâs claims examiners and outside defense counsel to obtain documents pursuant to discovery requests and depositions.
·
Obtain payroll records and assist third party administrator in the preparation of wage statements as required by state statutes.
·
Assist sr manager, workersâ comp claims with compilation of data as required for reports as needed.
·
Assess and validate insurance charges by store for failure to comply with company policy.
·
Communicate key claim findings with relevant risk management team members.
·
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
·
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
·
Strong PC skills including proficiency with the primary Microsoft Office applications.
·
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
·
Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
·
Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
·
Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
·
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
·
Experience with workersâ compensation claims handling.
·
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey detailed information to a diverse population.
·
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information obtained in the course of work.
·
Excellent organizational skills with proven experience in prioritizing work and coordinating several projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
