Duties:
psychiatric
evaluation/assessment, psychiatric medication management, treatment plan, coordination of veteran's overall mental health care, coordination
of medical care with the patient's Primary Care Provider, referral of
patients, operation of quality assurance and utilization programs
including peer reviews, open and closed medical record review and
utilization reviews.
This position includes direct care for outpatients
manifesting a wide variety of psychiatric and psychosocial problems
including but not limited to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety,
Depression, Bipolar disorder, Psychotic disorder, Substance abuse
disorder, Organic mental illness and Dementia. The Psychiatrist shares
clinical responsibilities for outpatient management of patients with a
multidisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Nurse
Practitioner, Clinical Social Worker, Health Technician, and supporting
personnel. Position is full time permanent, with 40 hour work week
schedule. There is no afte! r hours/weekend on-call responsibility.
, duties i! nclude:
Physician provides psychiatric services for adult and geriatric
homebound Veterans who have a wide spectrum of mental health diagnoses common
to Veterans and the elderly. The Physician is responsible for the overall
mental health care of patients enrolled in the Home Based Primary Care Program
and is an active interdisciplinary team participant. The Team will include
incumbent, a nurse practitioner, internist/family practitioner, psychologists
and other ancillary health professions.
Some travel is required as are occasional home visits. There are
opportunities for teaching various trainees. The facility is fully
computerized; therefore, computer skills are required. Physician must document
medical care through the use of the electronic medical records system (CPRS).
The Tour of Duty is Monday through Friday, usually 8AM to 4:30 PM.

Certified in Geriatric Psychiatry or with Geriatric Psychiatric experience to
provide psychiatric and related mental health services to the Home Based
Primary Care Program patients
Qualifications & Evaluations

D egree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
