JOB OVERVIEW:
At the Hi! ghest level, Catholic Hospice Employees must (a) be committed to Hospice philosophy and mission and (b) provide outstanding customer service, aligned with the Customer Service Guidelines, to both internal and external customers. Additionally, be able to promote an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Hospice and those required by law. Under the Registered Nurse’s direction, the Hospice Aide is responsible for providing care and/or assisting with care when appropriate. The Hospice Aide should be able to respond sensitively to patient/family needs by observing and reporting any change to include physical, spiritual, social, and emotional.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Commitment to Hospice philosophy and mission.

2. Commitment and Implementation of Catholic Hospice's "Customer Service Guidelines."

3. Ability to interact with the publi! c and other employees in a positive manner and promote a coope! rative working environment.

4. Ability to handle sensitive information, maintain confidentiality, and coordinate several projects at the same time.

5. Demonstrate adherence to Catholic Hospice, Inc. polices and procedures and pertinent State and Federal Rules and Regulations.

6. Performs only those personal care/home maintenance activities contained in a written assignment by a health professional employee.

7. Ability to lift and move patients according to accepted nursing standards of body mechanics.

8. Observe and report (both orally and in writing in English) any and all appropriate changes to the Registered Nurse.

9. Able to physically demonstrate, while giving verbal instructions to the patient and/or caregiver and family, basic skills to promote independence.

10. Record services provided accurately.

11. Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings.

12. Assists in the orientation of new! Hospice Aide’s under the direct supervision of the Team Manager.

13. Provide accurate and appropriate documentation and submit daily or as required, both in writing and by using the required technology.

14. Consistently able to work calmly and maintain effectiveness in situations of high stress.

15. Maintaining the ability to extend hospitality and patience while assisting patients, families, physicians and peers under stressful circumstances.

16. Ability to travel to any location throughout South Florida as needed and expand territory as business needs dictate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Comple! tion of an approved Nursing Assistant course offering certification inc! luding completion of a Home Health Aide certificate course. (Minimum 120 hours).

Student nurse proficient in basic personal care skills or the equivalent.

Must be up to date on all required Educational Unit requirements.

Must be 18 years or older

Pass the drug test

Ability and willingness to work a flexible Full Time schedule that includes weekends, evenings and holidays

Proficient oral and written communications skills in English. Bilingual (English / Spanish) strongly preferred

Must be able to use facsimile, write and transcribe information accurately

Must be able to provide own transportation to various locations in service areas, as required by duties
