General Summary
Reporting to the Director Laboratory Services, the Med Tech II performs laboratory testing in accordance with the Division of Clinical Laboratory Standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 64B3-13.00. Oversees the day-to day operations of various lab sections in the absence of a Supervisor. All duties are performed in accordance with established departmental and Hospital policies and procedures. The position actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, while implementing the principles of Florida Hospital.
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related sciences.
Experience
One (1) year experience in a laboratory setting required, or completion of an accredited medical l! aboratory training program.
Minimum three (3) years relevant experience preferred.
Previous experience and working knowledge of computerized documentation preferred.
Certification/License
State of Florida- Medical Technologist. Licensed in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Serology.
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT) Board of Certification or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated technical skills and aptitudes related to specific clinical laboratory testing.
Knowledge of laboratory rules and regulations including: CAP, CLIA, and State of Florida.
Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and document information accurately.
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Ability to remain calm and focused during in highly stressful and/or emotionally charged s! ituations.
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills required.!
Demonstrated critical thinking skill with a strong customer and patient focus.
Highly and analytical skills and detail oriented.
Basic hands-on computer and keyboarding skills required;
Working knowledge of Cerner preferred.
Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. up to a third of the time.
