Licensed Practical Nurses at State Veterans' Nursing Home

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of Florida, prefers experience i! n a long term care facility, and must have basic computer skills.

POSITION STANDARDS

Give direct nursing care to include ordered treatments, administer prescribed medications, give direct ADL care and complete requirements for diagnostic procedures as requested by the attending physician on an assigned shift per established policies and procedures.

Will do rounds with Physicians or other health care personnel as needed. Will make sure orders are taken corrected, documented and implemented.

Responsible for counting narcotics at beginning and end of shift. Assure that narcotic records are accurate for assigned shift.

! Recognize and respond to changes in resident's condition. Noti! fy supervisor, physician and family of changes in resident’s condition. Document all notifications.

Answer call lights within designated time frame. Complete assigned portion of MDS within assigned time frame.

Assist, in assessing, admitting, discharging, and transferring patients as required.

Receive and give report at beginning and end of shift by making walking rounds with the off-going and on-coming nurse.

Attend in-services, meetings, Care Plans and MDS as needed. Maintain CPR certification and perform as needed.

Complete all required documentation to include weekly and monthly nursing summaries, transcribe physician's orders and complete admission, transfer and discharge records. Will ensure that MAR, TAR, POS, Psychotropic flow sheets, I&O, and monthly nurses’ summary and weekly nurses’ notes are done correctly and within time frame and as required by local, state, and federal guidelines.

Orient newly admitt! ed residents to unit within 24 hours of admission.

As assigned by Sr. RN Supervisor or RN, will effectively manage nursing unit to include work assignments and breaks. Will ensure there is adequate staffing and direct activities of CNAs assigned to unit. Notify supervisor if changes need to be made per established policies and procedures. Make sure CNAs are in dining room on time. Try to problem solve before involving supervisor.

Complete other assignments from RN Supervisor by the due date.
