Naval Hospital Jacksonville has a civilian Supervisory Medical Technologist (Hematology) position immediate available in the Hematology Laboratory Section which provides high quality laboratory services, while optimizing resources and maintaining a constant state of readiness. A typical day in the life as the Supervisory Medical Technologist (Hematology)!
Serve as technical supervisor responsible for the services of Hematology Section of the Laboratory Department.
Modify, adapt or revise procedures to improve services in the lab.!
Perform, assess and correlate specialized or non-routine hema! tology procedures or techniques.
Set up and monitor record keeping systems and effective quality control procedures. Review quality control results.
Instruct and direct on the job training for staff in lab.
Evaluate new procedures, instruments, and reagents for possible use in the lab.
Set up, develop or direct protocols for new procedures in the lab.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Accredited bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology and have either: 1) at least 4 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty of hematology.
Accredited master's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology and have either: 1) at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in a high complexity testing within the specialty of hematology.
Accredited doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology and have either: 1) at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity test! ing within the specialty of hematology.
Active MD, DO, or DPM ! license awarded by any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands; AND privileged to practice medicine in a DOD medical treatment facility; AND have at least one year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing for the specialty in hematology.
Active MD or DO license awarded by any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U. S. Virgin Islands; AND privileged to practice medicine in a DOD medical treatment facility; AND certification in clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology or possess qualifications that are equivalent to those required for such certification.
Served as commissioned officer in the Armed Forces; AND have an accredited bachelor's in a chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical technology; AND have at least three years of laboratory training or exp! erience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty of hematology; AND I am certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel, or other board deemed comparable.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
