Job Summary:
As an Authorization Coordinator with Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs’ Cancer Institute, you ! will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere. The Authorization Coordinator (AC) verifies benefits and obtains authorization of insurance for all follow-ups, re-consultations, re-evaluations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required:
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of the insurance verification process.
Computer literate and effective communicator.
Knowledge and navigation capability of insurance websites.
Ability to work independently as well as multi-task.
Knowledgeable of and adheres to HIPAA requirements/compliance.
Understanding of coding guidelines for radiation oncology
Read and understand medical terminology.

Bi-lingual (English required and Spanish preferred), both written and verbal communication.

Medical coding, billing and insurance certificates.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates Florida Hospital core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork.
Reviews all Radiation Oncology accounts for accuracy of benefit and authorizations, as well as updated information entered by each site.
Attend and participate in all billing meetings and distributes pertinent information to appropriate staff. Educates the staff on updates, new information and changes in insurance areas.
Obtains authorization for existing patients. Verifies benefits for all follow-ups, re-evaluations, and re-consulta! tions as well as patients the crossover from inpatient to outpatient. Reconciles daily master schedule with the patient treatment card.
Informs Reimbursement Manager, physician’s group network representative, and other assigned personnel of authorization or benefit problems. Accurately documents and communicates authorization findings to appropriate personnel and by noting in ARIA Journal Notes.
Update computer systems for necessary information relating to insurance benefits and authorizations. Performs daily reconciliation of all authorization and benefit verification reports.
Assist the billing auditors with insurance update as it pertains to coding and billing of Radiation Oncology patient charts through the appropriate computer program on a weekly basis.
Functions as departmental content expert answering all email and phone calls from staff or others regarding authorizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
