The Residency Program supplements the traditional hospital and unit orientations where all new nurses provide health care i! n partnership with staff nurse leaders who serve as preceptors. The program is designed to provide additional support for new graduates during their first year of transition into professional nursing through clinical simulations, classes, and workshops with Clinical Nurse Specialists who serve as facilitators. Nursing residents will have additional support in the form of a residency program coordinator, peer groups, competency reviews, and workshops off the unit.

The purpose of the program is to:
1. Guide the transition of the new graduate into professional nursing practice and leadership at the bedside.
2. Promote the development of both competence and confidence in clinical decision making while providing safe nursing care.
3. Strengthen the integration of research based evidence into practice.
4. Support the professional commitment to nursing and TMH.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. New graduates who will have been granted a! license to practice as an RN in the state of Florida prior to! the dates listed below.
2. Florida licensed Registered Nurses who have been out of school 6 months or less and not employed in an acute care setting as a Registered Nurse.

When: Residency Classes For 2013

Start Dates: Applications Accepted:
June 17, 2013 April 1- April 15, 2013

Program Guidelines: The participant will
Attend and actively participate in all activities in the program.
Complete all assignments in the program which include: projects, online courses, classes, journals and a career plan.
Complete all program evaluation and participant satisfaction surveys
Commit to two years of employment at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare to include an agreement that is signed prior to hire and binds the resident to a monetary payback of $5,000.00 if this commitment is not met.
