Licensure/Certification: Current license in the State of Florida. Maintains current American Heart Association BL! S certification, and other certifications as required. (See page 3 of the job description). GN’s must present seating pass to take Florida State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination. GN title may only be assumed for six months from date of graduation
Experience: Based on area of assignment, two years of hospital experience may be required. Must meet unit specific performance competencies.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
Precise eye hand coordination and finger dexterity.

Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential functions.
Essential Sensory Requirements:
Ability to visually and audibly perform essential functions
Essential Physical Requirements: Sufficient mobility and strength to ambulate, lift, position and transfer patients. Able to lift 35 pounds or more without assistance. Has good field of vision and depth perception. Able to track, see, and hear ! in an environment that is not totally distraction free. Must b! e infection free. Able to work in an environment with potential for exposure to blood and airborne pathogens and radiation. Able to utilize sharp objects. Required to wear protective clothing and equipment (gloves, masks, safety eye glasses/shields). May be required to work extended periods without relief.
Exposure to Hazards:
Exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids and chemical products.

Essential Functions:
Provides direct bedside patient care on a unit that regularly staffs RNs on a 24 hour, 7 day per week basis.
?Assesses patients’ needs and develops an individualized plan of care for each patient.
?Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
?Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective ! of the patient’s status and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
?Prescribes, delegates, coordinates and documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful and consistent manner including, but not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments and patient safety.
?Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
?Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Standards of Care and Practice.
?Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
?Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.
?Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.
?Possesses! and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
Other Relat! ed Functions: Participates in process improvement activities as assigned. Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe and organized unit. Provides input into staff development needs, hospital and/or nursing committees, nursing research activities, performance management activities of coworkers and self. Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education. Performs all other duties as assigned.
