Examines patients, orders tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to obtain information on patient's condition. ! Prescribes treatments and medications according to formulary. Performs procedures according to privileges. Provides patient teaching and counseling. Orients midlevel providers on daily clinical activities. Makes every effort to preserve patient safety.
Examples of Work:
Examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for abnormal findings. Initiates, monitors and changes medications according to established protocols. Adheres to formulary medications as reasonably expected. Ensures medication orders, renewals, discontinuations are completed and done on a timely manner. Identifies any patient with significant morbidity or requiring close monitoring for any medical condition and refers the patient to Critical Care for monitoring. Accurately documents the patient's medical information on paper or electronic media. Main! tains medical information up to date. Maintains confidentialit! y of medical information Reviews results of any pending laboratory or radiological studies daily. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Orients midlevel providers on daily clinical activities. Assists nursing personnel. Makes every effort to preserve patient safety.

NOTE:
In accordance with the City of Jacksonville Ordinance 116.910, effective July 1, 2012, any person who is hired or appointed by the City of Jacksonville and does not reside within Duval County at the time of hire, will have 6 (six) months to establish permanent residency within the boundaries of Duval County. Failure to establish permanent residency within six (6) months shall constitute resignation from employment. Effective July 1, 2012, any perso! n who is hired or appointed by the City of Jacksonville and does reside within Duval County at the time of hire, but subsequently moves his/her permanent residence outside the boundaries of Duval County, shall constitute resignation from employment.
