with our patients on our one of our Cardiac units.
Cardiovascular/Thoracic Unit: 48 beds (40 private/8 semi-private). Skills we are looking for:
Advanced Telemetry â€" cardiac rhythms and interventions
Drips: Cardizem, Natrecor, Amiodarone, heparin, nitrocycerine, integrilin
Care of the post op Open Heart patient, chest tube competencies, think and intervene, good organizational skills, lots of phlebotomy
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Required:
Must be knowledgeable of nursing process and its application to patient care. Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential job function and satisfactorily demonstrate required competencies in the care of patients, in! cluding department-specific and age-specific competencies. Mus! t practice safe critical thinking skills and make appropriate judgments/decisions re: patient care. Current knowledge of the nursing role and scope of practice as defined by Florida Professional Regulation. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; effective verbal and written communication; positive customer service.
EDUCATION:
Preferred:
BSN
BSN is strongly preferred for this position. If offered employment as a Registered Nurse and do not currently have a BSN it will be required to obtain the BSN within three (3) years of hire.
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
Previous experience in an acute care patient setting preferred.
Required:
None required if normally scheduled to work at least 40 hours per pay period. (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hrs/pay period, must have minimum o! f one year full time experience in acute care hospital.) May require previous experience for PACU, OR, ED, L&D, Radiology and Critical Care. All RNs in the Resource Pool and the PILB (pay in lieu of benefits) position require a minimum of one year recent acute care experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/ OTHER:
Preferred:
Certification in specialty.
Required:
Current license as Registered Nurse in Florida. The following certifications for specific departments are required: Resource Pool and PILB: ACLS, PALS or similar certification within one year; Critical Care RNs must complete ACLS by the end of orientation period. All RNs must complete 15 contact hours of education annually. Certifications: Per department or hospital requirements and relevant policies
