LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking an experienced professional for a Therapeutic Apheresis Nurse positio! n in Gainesville, Florida . The selected candidate will be given 3-6 months on-the-job training for this extremely specialized position. This position is responsible scheduling, coordinating, and performing all therapeutic apheresis procedures and maintaining patient and center procedural records and billing.
R esponsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Coordinate and verify orders to perform therapeutic apheresis procedures
- Perform routine and complex therapeutic plasma exchanges, red cell exchanges, stem cell collections, white cell depletions, platelet reductions, photopheresis procedures, and therapeutic phlebotomy according to standard operating procedures and physicianâs directions
- On-call and weekend rotation is required
- Must have consistent and reliable transportation
- Associates of Science/Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor's degree/Nursing (BSN) required
- ! Two years of nursing experience or two years of apheresis expe! rience required
- Valid driver's license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements
- Active State of Florida Registered Nurse License required
- CPR certification required
- Must meet hospital credentialing requirements
- Thorough knowledge and application of clinical skills as required in nursing practice
- Ability to perform routine and complex apheresis procedures
- Ability to recognize emergency and/or life threatening conditions and react accordingly
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to prepare concise and informative reports
- Knowledge of the operation and care of the COBE Spectra, Therakoz UVAR XTS, and other instrumentation as applicable
- Organized and able to manage time effectively
- Able to follow precise technical instructions
- Able to establish ef! fective working relationships with patients, physicians, healthcare workers, and coworkers
